This film has a lot of the ingredients of a great story: a rich setting of the Mafia\u2019s relationship with Las Vegas, an interesting protagonist in the form of Sam \u201cAce\u201d Rothstein (Robert De Niro), and a whole host of fascinating themes, from the mob skimming millions out of casinos to the false bedrock that Ace built his marriage off of to Nicky\u2019s complete scumbaggery (one of the best-built in a movie, IMHO). And it has Scorsese\u2019s trademark energy and pacing throughout.<\/p>\n
And the fact that it\u2019s based on true events only adds to its interest. This is a movie that will appeal to fans of the Mafia and those who enjoy history and crime dramas. It\u2019s not perfect; it does lag a little in the middle, and some of the characters aren\u2019t as well developed as they could be.
